about
Let her go is the first single from the album of the same title. I turned 40 in January 2022 and decided that this year I would allow myself to focus on music, which has been a lifelong passion. I've spent many years focused on caring for my autistic child and the trauma of perpetually being needed turned me into a person who never seized opportunities. This has now changed. I am so ready to embrace the music career that I have always wanted! So this year has been spent forming a band, writing new songs and revitalising old ones. This song (and the whole album) documents the journey from trauma to release, with the idea that I'm letting go of my past self, embracing life as it happens and looking forward to the future with hope and joy.
lyrics
It might feel like
Nothing’s going to change
Maybe you’re thinking
You’ll always feel this way
Well I can tell you from experience
That that is wrong
Another day will come
Remember to hang on
And let her go, let her go
Let her go, oh let her go
Let her go, let her go
Let her go and feel the flow
Come on and let her go
And you will grow
You’ve spent some time walking
On the darkest path
But there’s a light ahead
Lift your eyes to see
The trouble that surrounds you
Won’t be there for long
Keep your feet on the ground
Remember you are strong
And let her go, let her go
Let her go, oh let her go
Let her go, let her go
Let her go and feel the flow
If it’s too dark I’ll light the way
If you feel weak I’ll be your strength
If you despair I’ll bring you hope
Hope, I'll bring you hope
If you let her go, let her go
Let her go, oh let her go
Let her go, let her go
Let her go and feel the flow
Let her go, let her go
Let her go, oh let her go
Let her go, let her go
Let her go and feel the flow
Come on and let her go
And you will grow
Come on and let her go
And you will grow
If you let her go
